The band originally formed in the summer of 2000 as "Travelin Groove", but changed to the name "Satori" in 2001. Known for their long jams and Southern Rock sound, Satori led the Jam scene in the Low Country and surrounding areas for several years. Some of the band's influences include "The Allman Brothers", "Phish", "The Grateful Dead", "The Beatles", "The Band", & "Traffic." Through the early years, there were many many Bass players and several drummers that came and went. Including Jay Sheppard from "The Mighty Bofucious" and Cre Moore from "Stereo Reform" In 2003, Satori laid down their first (and last) studio album; self titled - "Satori". The album included some of the band's hits like "Back to the Mountains", "Best Friend", and "Billy the Kid." In the fall of 2006, Satori called it quits with one last show at the Pour House in Charleston, SC.
